The Run For Our Heroes is a 5K race/walk using a certified course in scenic downtown Raleigh. The course starts near the Raleigh Police Department on Dawson St. just north of Hargett St., proceeds up Fayetteville St., and around the State Capitol, continues past Peace College and the Halifax Court area, continues past the Governor’s mansion, and then back into the downtown area where the race finishes in front of the Police Memorial on Hargett St.  The course is mostly flat with only a few inclines and no major hills.  Click here to view the race route.

Splits will be called at miles 1 & 2 and at the halfway mark.  There will be 2 water stations on the course.

ChampionChip timing will be used to guarantee accurate results.

This race will offer each entrant in the 5K a choice of being a competitive or recreational entrant.  Here is the difference:
Competitive entrants are those who wish to be eligible for awards or just want to receive an official time.
Recreational entrants are those who don’t care about being eligible for awards and do not want an official time.  However, there will be a digital clock at the finish line where each entrant can see their finish time.

Also, back by popular demand will be the McGruff Crime Dog 100 yard Kids’ Dash for children ages 10 and under.
